Friends in the Snow

You can't keep five year old boys from having fun in the snow. They will build their own hill to slide down if that is what it takes! Luke and his three friends dressed in their snow gear, spent the afternoon at the Botts last Monday. Hayden'ts mom, Marie took pictures and sent them on for all of us to enjoy. The hill was only a yard or so high, but it could have been a black diamond run at Deer Valley for all they cared.

More Twin Pictures

They are still doing really good. They had to go under the lights for 24 hours or so. They were a little jaundice. They are eating through a feeding tube and are gaining a little. Creighton is on the right, Kyjah on the left. I haven't heard Creighton say much, but Kyjah can really yell up a storm. She lets them know if she isn't happy. The nurse was trying to put her on her tummy to sleep and she was having none of it. She wouldn't quit until the nurse put her on her side.

Niklas's blessing

I am borrowing these pictures from Carlie's blog. I had to show off how cute Niklas was on his blessing day.

The Twins are here!

They were earlier than we would have liked, but they just couldn't wait! Kim's blood pressure kept getting higher and higher until there was no other choice but to have a c-section. During the last 24 hours they have both been taken off the breathing machines and are breathing room air on their own. Steve is feeding them through their stomach tubes tonight. As you can see they both have dark hair. I think Creighton has an Ogden chin. It looks a lot like Easton's right now. You can see his soft spot low on his forehead. The light is hitting it just right in this pic because it is really not that noticeable. Connor has the same thing. I guess it is quite rare, the nurses were wondering about it. Connor's is closing up fine, no problems, so I am guessing Creighton's will too. This is the little man, Creighton D weighing in at 4 lbs 15 oz.
Sweet baby Kyjah Rae weighed just 4 lbs.
She is so cute and little. She is as long as Creighton (18 inches) but a pound lighter. When Gramps (Rod) was visiting her today, she started to fuss a little and cry. He said it was just a little squeeking noise.
The parents don't know it yet, but their lives are forever changed. Welcome to the fam, Kyjah and Creighton.

Turning 6---blah..blah..blah!

I can hardly believe it, but I am not only a senior citizen..but an old lady! To help me over this first hard birthday, our children gave me two tickets to all of the BYU home football games! They are wonderful children, don't you think? I have always known they were the best kids ever!

Rod went with me to the first one. BYU vs Florida State. We were so excited to go and then....BYU lost! not just lost, but hardly showed up to play. It was fun anyway. We hadn't been in the stadium for a couple of years. There is nothing like it.

The second game was with Utah State. Rod had a cold and didn't want to go. I asked Carson to go with me. We sat on the East side this time and were in the shade the entire game. It was great. Carson was a great sport to go with his old grandma. We had a good time eating snow cones, ( or whatever you call a ice cone in a cup!) and then some kettle corn. We were sorry we didn't see the huge maple bars sooner. I had spent my wad! We both vowed, next game we would have one! The game was good. The weather was good and the company was wonderful!

The Colorado State game was a night game. The weather was wonderful. The moon coming up over Y mountain was just a lovely sight. Only a true BYU fan would write that sentence! Rod went with me again. We had great seats. Down low on the East side. We smuggled in pine nuts to eat, what could be more fun?

Next up is the Homecoming game with TCU. Can't wait!

More Pumpkins

We live in the pumpkin capital of Utah. There are fields of pumpkins everywhere. Luke's kindergarten class went on a field trip to a pumpkin farm. It just so happened they they picked a field just down the rode from our house. I went over to the farm to pick him up when they were ready to load up to go back to school. I was a little early so I watched for a few minutes. The teacher gave them all a clip board. They were to do a survey. They were to find pumpkins of all kinds. Yellow, orange, big, round...etc . It was fun to see them all with their clip boards and pencils making tally marks, running around and laughing. The teacher is very calm and kind. I guess you have to be to be a kindergarten teacher.
After they handed in their clip boards they lined up for a picture. Luke was sitting in the front with some boys. Then he jumped up and climbed up to the top row and sat by a little girl. He was laughing and talking with her. Later I asked him what her name was and he said "Sarah ". I think he is just a little smitten with her. He is a lady's man!

Luke's friend Ethan had a party.

Hayden, Cam, Luke, Kai, Carter and Ethan waiting for their turn on the wagon. Ethan turned 4 and invited the neighborhood boys to the Apple barn in Santaquin for a pumpkin party. They rode on the wagon to the pumpkin patch where they picked out a pumpkin that their "man arms" could carry. Back at the barn, Ethan's mom, Anne broke out the cupcakes and the boys sang the happy birthday song without being prompted by anyone! I wonder what this neighborhood will be like in ten years when these boys are all Aaronic Priesthood holders, passing and blessing the sacrament, teenagers, girls (?). Won't it be fun! I can count 6 more boys younger and a couple older that weren't at the party all living within 100 yards of Sara's house. What a great neighborhood for boys to learn and grow.

This week's happenings...I know a lame title, but I am just too tired of coughing to be any more creative!

No, this isn't the new puppy. Luke wanted to have a picture posted of the hedge hog toy he picked out for his new puppy. The next picture shows the actual puppy, just in case you couldn't tell the difference.
I was not surprised to get the call from the East Idaho State Fair. It did surprise me that the call came from Curt. He called to let me know that Rod and I had a new housemate. He really enjoys other people making big purchases or he was laughing I am not sure. Sara had bought a puppy for Luke. It is a mini snaugher..snaugher...schnauzer...thanks spell checker! He is really little and very cute. The fair is held in Blackfoot where Curt and Jennie live. For the last few years, some of us..mostly Amy and anyone else that can have gone up to experience the fair. This year, Allie was on a float with her dance team and that meant she needed a larger audience so Amy, Aleisha, Sara and Luke went up on Friday. A pet store usually has a petting zoo. We have visited it a few times in the past. There are also really cute puppies there. Allie starts her pleading as soon as it is set up but to no avail. So now we have a dog cage in the kitchen and puppy pads, toys, dog treats, etc. And...no I do not call him my granddog!

Luke and Indy. The name was Luke's choice. The first name out of his mouth. I am glad it wasn't Yoshi, or Mario or some other Mario Bros. name.

Lucy's new cousin. So far she is ignoring him, hoping he will go away.

Luke's kindergarten class went on their first field trip last week. They went to the duck pond on campus. I am not sure what they did there because there was no where for me to park so I drove around and around waiting for him to be finished so I could take him home. Sara was there early enough to get a parking spot so she spent the time playing ISpy and having rice krispie cookies. The duck pond is on the south end of campus and is also called the botony pond for those of you who have fond memories of BYU campus! I think it is a popular picnic date spot. Also just up the street from the Brick Oven. I know everyone knows where it is.

Friday, the We celebrated Kim's birthday at PF Changs . Steve was still in New Jersey but the rest of the Utah County family plus Amy and Lucy had dinner and wished her a happy birthday. She was still in the dark about how many babies she was carrying , hence the smile!

Carrie brought her guns along with her family. She makes us all feel so safe when she is around!

New Additions!

I tried to post the ultra sound pics for Steve and Kim's babies, but couldn't get them big enough to see anything so I gave up. I am ultra sound challenged anyway and can't tell what is in the pictures. We never had such things when our kids were born. It took us all a while, but I think we all now believe it. Kim and Steve are having twins! When Kim came home from New Jersey she had to endure a lot of "You are so big!" comments. But ...she was. For one baby anyway. But mostly she has had to endure..what is it? We really want a girl. Her family were all pulling for a boy. We have mostly boys and they have mostly girls. Forever a peace maker, Steve has done it again. They are having one of each. Isn't that nice of them. Now I get to make another cute quilt in blue and crochet a pink afghan. That makes me happy. I have already crocheted a pink dress but I am pretty sure Steve won't let me crochet any kind of boy outfit, so the little boy's gift will have to be something different! They are due the middle of December. I think the parents are still in shock. Going from two to four is going to be fun and challenging.
We are waiting also for number 16 grandchild, number 12 grandson to be born anytime in the next week or so. Carlie is just about ready. I am sure there will be pictures posted as soon as it happens. Since the dad has tickets to the BYU OKlahoma game on Saturday, it will probably be during halfltime! Maybe they can name him Max.

Sara is officially a soccer mom

Using her time wisely
Luke's friend Colton's dad is helping coach the team and our best friend neighbor, Kai is on the team too. Jubiliation after scoring a goal. It is his Mario dance.

This picture is blurry because they were running so fast!

For the first time ever putting on shin guards, Luke did a wonderful job.
Dan and Mason would be proud.
I missed the best picutre. He found out that he could dive and slide for the ball and thought that was really fun. He slid right in front of us but all I got was the top of his head.
His coach told him after the game that he hadn't seen anyone that willing to dive for the ball quite like Luke.

Milestones

School started for Luke and Sara this morning. Luke was excited to wear his new shoes and Sara got to use her new computer bag! Like Mother, like Son! Luke is going to the BYU kindergarten so he is familiar with the building and playground. Two of his friends from pre-school are in his class. I asked him if he had to write his name and he said he did and that he put an M in it. What? Why an M? I should have guessed the answer. For Mario, he said! He wore his Mario shirt and tested his teacher's gamer knowledge. She recognized Mario and Luigi but she didn't know who Yoshi was. She has a lot to learn!
Miss Amy

Sara is now a 2L. That means second year law student. She has a much easier schedule this year. She made it home at 3:00 P.M. today. Yeah!
Carrie, Reese, Amy, Tyson, Luke, JoAnne, Rod, Grams, Cameron and Carson. I am so proud of Carson. We can see his face!
Birthday dinner for the old gray haired lady. I just can't bring myself to say the number of birthday's I have celebrated. It was a fun dinner. I think our kids know me pretty well. They each bought two tickets to a BYU home football game as a gift for me. I am very excited. Win or lose, there is nothing more fun than a football game in Cougar stadium. I can't wait! If Rod is nice, I am considering letting him go with me!

Vacation!

I don't think it can be called "camping" when you have a bed with sheets a fridge with a freezer and a working bathroom complete with hot water in the shower. Too bad there is only room for two!
