Birthday's and Bikes

Luke's smile says it all. When he got on and went for his first ride on this new fancy bike, we could hear his "Whoo hoo..." all the way down the block.

Cousins helping Luke celebrate turning five.

Yes, the legs of R2D2 were twinkies!

R2D2..Luke's reaction when he first saw this masterpiece,...Oh..I wanted Mario! I do have the recipe for the marshmallow fondant if anyone wants it. Quite easy and is much less expensive that the kind you buy and it tastes good.

Reese 's birthday is on Sunday so we did a mini party for her too. She loved Aunt Amy's jewelry box . She insists that she is only two and won't admit that she is three. Already starting the lying about her age thing. I had hoped to post a picture of her in the tutu that I made for her, but she wouldn't leave it on long enough and she wouldn't try on the dress either, so this is the only picture that I have to share! We hope the terrible two's don't turn into the horrible threes!

After bringing in Luke's bike, Amy and Sara had me close my eyes for a surprise and brought in this beauty. They saw it at the bike shop and decided it was just what I needed. Apparently it is the new popular bike. Very comfy and easy to ride. As you can see, the seat fits, it has a bell and the tire tread is shaped like flowers! What more could you ask for?

Kindergarten

My kindergarten teacher was Mrs. Vera Bond. I would be safe saying all Milford kids in the 50's, 60's , maybe even a little earlier had her for their kindergarten teacher. The kindergarten room was on the northwest corner of the old elementary in Milford. One of my first memories is being in trouble with my mother because my cousin Vicki and I had followed our mothers over to a parent's meeting before school actually started. We peeked into the room and my mom saw us. I remember running home knowing that I was in trouble and I was right. My mother was embarrassed because we were in our play clothes and not very clean.
I really don't remember learning much. Just singing and coloring and having snack and rest time. We took turns being the wake up fairy. Really, that is what we called the person who got to go around the room touching everyone to wake them up. We took our own favorite blankets for rest time. Learning to read was not part of the curiculum.

Today, Luke and I went to Heber for Tyson's end of the year kindergarten program. It seems like just yesterday that we watched Cheryl's kindergarten program. Time does fly.
Tyson was really cute. He waved to his dad and mom . He sang the songs and danced and grinned, just what kindergarten kids should do.

He was in charge of holding up the "K". It was the last song and the stress of waiting got too much sometimes but he did a great job when the time came!

Playing with the Myers kids and Yard Additions

We are not much competition for Cameron and Carson but we had a fun time at the park by Sara's house. Just look at those beautiful mountains.
Carson has good form. Yes, that is still snow on the top of that mountain.

There is sand in the sandbox now and sand digging toys.

These are our version of "square foot gardening" We didn't do it exactly right, but our seeds are germinating and our tomato and squash and pepper plants are still alive. We have installed a combination drip and sprinkler system to make watering easy. We still need to install the apparatus that the tomatoes and squash are going to grow on, but we don't need it quite yet. According to the book, we shouldn't have weeds, so it should be the ideal garden! We'll see.

Amy said "you know what this yard needs? A trampoline. Right in that corner". An hour later, there was one. Just like magic!

The shadows on his cheek are from his eyelashes! Really! This is Carrie's Tyson. He looks like he could be a son of Dan and Emma Rollins, doesn't he? The blonde eye brows and freckles. Well, that is because he is related in a couple of ways, but that is a story for another time!
